Instructions

Row 1: Ch 40, dc in 3rd ch from hook and each rem ch.

Row 2: Turn, ch 2, fpdc in next 2 dc, bpdc in next dc, (fpdc in next 3 dc, bpdc  in next dc) rep across to last 3 stitches. FPDC in  next 2 sts, dc in 2nd ch  of skd 2 chs.

Row 3: Turn, ch 2, dc in next 2 fpdc, fpdc in next bpdc,  dc in next 3 sts) across, dc in 2nd ch of turning ch 2.

Row 4: Turn, ch 2, fpdc in next 2 dcs, bpdc in next fpdc (fpdc in next 3 sts, bpdc  in next fpdc) across to last 3 sts, fpdc in next 2 sts, dc in 2nd ch of turning ch 2.

Rep rows 3 and 4 until square measures 11 inches. Then rep row 3 once more.
