Basic Stitches:
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet

Instructions:

Star: (make 1)
Rnd 1: With white Ch2...Work 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook..join with a sl st to first sc to form ring.

Rnd 2: (Ch 4...sc in 2nd ch from hook...hdc in next ch...dc in next ch...sl st in next sc in ring)5 times...fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Bow:
With gold (or desired color) ch 75,fasten off.

Square:
Row 1: With red ch 54, dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 chs, 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 3 chs, sk next 2 chs, *dc in next 3 chs, 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 3 chs, sk next 2 chs, rep from * across, ch 1, .turn. (There should be 6 waves.)

Row 2: Skip first st, working in back loops, *sc in next 3 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts, sk 2 sts, rep from * across, leaving last st empty, join white, ch 3, turn. (measure the length of these 2 rows, it should measure approx 12", if not than adjust your hook size)

Row 3: Skip first st, working in back loops, *dc in next 3 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, sk next 2 sts, rep from * across, leaving last st empty, ch 1, turn.

Rows 4-12: Repeat rows 2 and 3 alternating the colors as you go, changing to red at the end of row 12.

Row 13: Skip first st, working in back loops rep from * of row 3, 3 times, dc in next 3 sts, change to blue, 3 dc in next st, continue in pattern across, ch 1, turn.

Rows 14: Skip first st, working in back loops, *sc in next 3 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts, sk 2 sts, rep from * 1 time, sc in next 3 sts, 3 sc in next st, change to red, sc in next 3 sts, continue in pattern across, ch 3, turn.

Rows 15-26: Rep rows 13 and 14 alternating colors as you go, fasten off at end of row 26.

Edging:
With gold (or your color of choice) join with a sc in corner st at end of row 26, 2 sc in same sp, working down side of square work 1 sc in end of each sc row and 2 sc in end of each dc row, *3 sc in corner space, working across bottom of square, sc in each st to corner, rep from * around entire square, join with a sl st in first sc, fasten off, weave in ends.

Sew star between 2nd & 4th ridge in blue area, attach gold ch in top corner of blue area and tie into bow.
