Edge all of the squares with a row of singles (or doubles if they are
small) with three singles in each corner. Then in each corner, single,
chain 4, single. Put six chain 3 loops on each side of the square with the
single, chain 4, single in each corner. Every square needs the same number
of loops around the sides. Then lay the squares out like you want the finished 'ghan to be. You can work the lattice horizontally first or vertically, it doesn't matter. Join yarn with a single in the corner of the first square on row 2, chain 2 and single in the corner on row 1. Then chain 2 and go back and forth in the loops on each row. When all are joined, go around the whole thing with chain 3 loops in every chain 3 loop. Then you can put a final border of shells or whatever you like around it. Note: The reference to putting six chain 3 loops would change if you were working on a larger or smaller square and as long as each side of every square has the same number, it is up to the discretion of the assembler to decide. |
