Materials
Worsted weight yarn, approx. 1 oz each of 3 colors;
Size I aluminum crochet hook (I used a Boye hook) OR Size Needed for Gauge.

Rnds 1 - 4 = about 5" across

Special Stitches:

Beginning Cluster (beg cl) - ch 2, holding last loops of sts on hook,
dc in each of next 2 dc, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook

Cluster (cl) - holding last loops of sts on hook, dc in each of next
3 dc, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook

Beginning V-Stitch (beg V-st) - ch 5 (counts as first dc and 2 ch), dc
in same st or sp

V-Stitch (V-st) - (dc, ch 2, dc) in st or sp indicated

Instructions:

With first color, ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, (3 dc in ring, ch 2) 3 times, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (12 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 2: Beg cl, *ch 2, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2**, cl over next 3 dc*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of beg cl. (8 dc, 8 ch-2 sps, 4 cl, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 3: Beg V-st, *ch 1, (V-st, ch 3, V-st) in next ch-3 corner sp, ch 1**, V-st in next cl*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg V-st. (12 V-sts, 8 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 4: Sl st into ch-2 sp of beg V-st, (ch 3, 2 dc) in same sp, ch 1, 3 dc in ch-2 sp of next V-st, ch 1, *(dc, ch 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp, ch 1**, (3 dc in next V-st, ch 1) 3 times*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, 3 dc in last V-st, ch 1, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3.  Fasten Off first color. (12 3-dc groups, 16 ch-1
sps, 8 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 5: Join second color with sl st in any ch-3 corner sp, ch 6 (counts as first dc and 3 ch), dc in same sp, *ch 1, (V-st in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 4 times**, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next ch-3 sp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-6. (16 V-sts, 20 ch-1 sps, 8 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 6: Sl st into ch-3 sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp, *ch 1, (3 dc in next V-st, ch 1) 4 times**, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at ** and omitting last ch-1 sp, join with sc in 3rd ch of beg ch-3 to form last ch-1 sp. Rnd 7: Beg V-st in sp just made, *ch 1, (V-st, ch 3, V-st) in next ch-3 corner sp, ch 1**, (V-st in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 5 times*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, (V-st in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 4 times, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg V-st. (28 V-sts, 24 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 8: Sl st into ch-2 sp of beg V-st, (ch 3, 2 dc) in same sp, ch 1, 3 dc in ch-2 sp of next V-st, ch 1, *(dc, ch 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp, ch 1**, (3 dc in next V-st, ch 1) 7 times*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, (3 dc in next V-st, ch 1) 5 times, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3.  Fasten Off second color. (28 3-dc groups, 32 ch-1 sps, 8 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 9: Join third color with sl st in any ch-3 corner sp, ch 6 (counts as first dc and 3 ch), dc in same sp, *ch 1, (V-st in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 8 times**, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next ch-3 sp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-6. (32 V-sts, 36 ch-1 sps, 8 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 10: Sl st into ch-3 sp, (ch 2, 2 hdc, ch 2, 3 hdc) in same sp, *ch 1, (3 hdc in next V-st, ch 1) 8 times**, (3 hdc, ch 2, 3 hdc) in next ch-3 sp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in 2nd ch of beg ch-2.  Fasten Off third color. (40 3-hdc groups, 36 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-2 sps)
